In this free video tutorial brought to you in with the support of Plugin Alliance, Pro Tools Expert team member Julian Rodgers demonstrates how useful the mono maker control, found in many Brainworx plug-ins, can be to narrow and centre a kick drum in a recording with inappropriately placed overheads.
Centre Line Through The Drum Kit
In this example recording the omni overheads have captured plenty of low-frequency information but because the overheads were placed square onto the front of the kit it has resulted in a recording with the kick drum off to one side.
One approach to conveniently fix this issue is to use the mono maker found in many Brainworx plug-ins to centre this lop-sided LF.
