In September we ran a competition to win one of two Audient ASP800 and iD14 bundles. We can now announce that Benoit Frison and David Thomas are the two lucky winners.

Benoit Frison

I am 38 years old and I'm French. I have been a young executive in electronic industry for 15 years, and one day, my body said stop and I understood that it was not for me. "The truth was out of there"... and I decided to go back to my childhood dream: to become a sound engineer!  Since January 2015 I have become an old and happy student at SAE Institute Paris. I also contribute to studioCSD on a wide variety of projects (Metal, classical, cello quatuor, brass band,...).

I have been looking for some gear to be able to record anywhere, perhaps an acoustic session, or in my "studio", and ... perfect timing... I receive this huge news from Pro Tools Expert!

The Audient iD14 will be my best friend on the road, in my bag, to record and to capture the soul of music. iD14 seems to be a solid unit and it will be testing it in the next month...

The Audient ASP800 will be the natural extension of my existing equipment with its ADAT output, and I am very exciting to colour my world with retro-channels, and I will, at last, be able to record drums... a dream for a drummer. Did I say thank you previously ? :)

David Thomas

I’ve run Sonic Boom Audio since leaving BBC Radio in 1994. The bulk of my work is sound design for dramas, documentaries and comedy shows and I still love being involved in every aspect of the audio production process. I have to own up and say the picture above isn't my studio, it’s Air Edel in Marble Arch, in London where I freelance pretty regularly. 

My main job of last year was sound designer on War & Peace for BBC Radio 4. Over four months I recorded, edited and mixed ten hours of audio drama which was then broadcast as one massive event on New Year’s Day 2015. In this picture I am fitting a radio mic on a rider for War & Peace FX in Austerlitz, Czech Republic.

Having this Audient bundle will transform the way I work. I’ll now be able to take a couple of boxes and a laptop out on location and capture things with a speed and flexibility I have not had before, then bring them back to the studio and continue using the same recording chain throughout the rest of the project. Fantastic.
