Free Tutorial - How To Use Hardware Inserts In Pro Tools To Use Outboard Gear

In this video Paul Maunder looks at how to use outboard hardware in Pro Tools. Outboard gear such as EQ or compression can be used via hardware inserts in a Pro Tools session. This means that you can effectively incorporate your external equipment into your mix in a similar way to how you might use plug-ins.

This video covers the basics of how to connect your hardware to your audio interface and how to use I/O setup to configure Pro Tools to use your outboard equipment in your session.

Time based effects such as reverbs and delays can also be used via hardware sends and returns, coming back into the session through an Aux track.
