Pro Tools Quick Tips - Fat Meters

While I prefer to avoid conversations which sound anything like a platform war, if you've been around DAWs for any length of time you've probably noticed that they are all pretty good. However I've always been irritated by the poor channel metering in most DAWs. Pro Tools 11 brought a welcome upgrade to the metering and while I still tend to favour sample peak meters at least I have some choice, unlike some DAWS where 50% of the meter seems to be dedicated to the final two bits!

Fat Meters

Meters are important and if you would like your meters to be wider they can be. If you hit CMD+Opt+Ctrl on a Mac or Ctrl+Alt+Start on a PC, affectionately known as the "powerclaw" in some circles, and click on the meter it will double in width. Easy! If you like it use it, if you don't just change it back.
