MXL Microphone Competition Winner

We are very happy to announce the winner of our recent competition with MXL microphones is Oliver Baldwin of Bristol UK. He has chosen a pair of MXL CR-21 pencil condenser microphones as his prize.

I work as an engineer as J&J Studio, Bristol - both as an assistant and as a lead engineer on some projects. My style is all about capturing a great performance and genuinely representing (and hopefully enhancing!) the band’s sound. I am also playing guitar and electronics in Iyabe, an alternative ambient/noise band. For me, it’s all about nice old analog equipment, and therefore I try to make sure everything sounds great before I press record. These MXL CR-21 microphones will help me achieve these, and I’m really looking forward to trying them as drum overheads, on guitar and our lovely old piano. I’ve also recently got into using small diaphragm condensers on upright bass, and the impressive frequency response of these mics will sound great for this I’m sure. I also love interesting room mic placement, so they’ll be really useful for this too.

Many congratulations to Oliver and you can check out the MXL CR-21 mics in action in our recent review.
