Avid Change Their Pro Tools 12 Advertising Message On FaceBook Ads

On the DUC "Righty27" posted three screen grabs of Avid Facebook ads. Spot the difference? I will give you a clue, it has nothing to do with a left handed band, the players could be left handed or the graphic designer could have flipped the image. Read on to find out more.

Did you spot it? congratulations if you did, but if you didn't, the difference we are referring to is the fact that in the second image the reference to collaboration tools has been dropped.

Collaboration 'Coming Soon'?

Pro Tools 12 was announced back in January this year and launched back in late March and the collaboration features were discussed as coming soon.

So how soon is soon? Should we read anything into this change in the Facebook ad?  It could be that legislation in some countries prohibiting the advertising of features not yet available. However one has to ask, they have had 'technology previews' of the collaboration features as far back as August 2014 when we posted a video form Avid heralding Avid Everywhere and then a video from a 3rd party from a trade show floor that we posted on October 2014.  It is now August 2015, 12 months since the tech preview and the features are still not available in a release version.

Avid confirmed as far as back as July 2014 that the Collaboration features would be in a release version of Pro Tools by the end of 2015. So time is starting to run out on this one. It is clearly causing the development team some troubles to say the least or we would have it by now. So are Avid going to be forced to release it 'as is' to meet the promise they made? I really hope not. What do you think?

Should Avid Park The Collaboration Idea?

Should Avid 'park' the collaboration features and turn their attention to other issues? Perhaps deal with at least some of the requests in the top 25 on the Ideascale that we looked at back in January 2015?

Do share your thoughts and observations but can we please ask that we have a 'grown up' discussion and debate on these issues? Thanks.
