When 5 tonnes of pre milled and sawn timber arrives on your drive what do you do with it. Well you "crack on" and turn it into a studio.  Believe it or not the walls, windows, door and roof all when up in 1 day with just my wife and I doing the building. 

Once the outer building was up and watertight the next thing to do was to start building the internals.

The next gallery of images shows the internal walls going in to form the storage area at the front of the building.  The Timber stud work that will support the plaster board (dry wall) and the main sound isolating door between the drum room and the control room. This is actually a triple glazed, Argon filled patio style sliding door. I could not afford a proper studio iso door and this is probably the weakest part of the build.  It is good but it could be better. 

Up to this point there was no special "acoustic" materials in this build. Apart from If you look closely along the bottom of the sliding door images you can see some little black shapes. These are floor support pucks called U-Boats by Auralex. These de-couple the floor beams from the solid concrete slab and also support the inner walls of the drum room.  So other than the sliding door the drum room is free floating. It does not touch the outer shell of the building at all.  I believe that this has had the greatest effect of the sound isolation of the drum room.
