Hedd Audio Launch Modular Audio Over IP Studio Monitors

Hedd Audio have launched their innovative new line of studio monitors at Messe. A new company, Hedd monitors have been designed by Klaus Heinz, formerly of Adam Audio. While they do share some heritage with Adam, these are an entirely new design featuring a new, stiffer honeycomb material for the speaker diaphragm and a modified version of the familiar Air Motion Transducer which allows for a significant lowering of the crossover point.

The feature of these monitors which has caught my attention is the development of Hedd Bridge - a series of modular input cards which offer Audio Over IP (AoIP) connectivity. In addition to standard XLR and RCA connectors, the Series One monitors feature an empty card slot allowing any of the Hedd Bridge cards to be installed.

Currently there are Dante, AES3 and Ravenna/AES67 cards available, with USB and Wireless cards to follow later in 2016. The Series One two way monitors will be shipping at the end of April. The big 3-way-system will be available at the end of June.

Pricing - Monitors are priced per unit. Only one Hedd Bridge card is needed per pair of monitors:

  • Type 05 / €450
  • Type 07 / €600
  • Type 30 / €3000
  • Dante card €300 (preliminary)
  • AES 67card €600 (preliminary)
  • AES 3 card €250 (preliminary)
