Community member Trent Williams has turned to us for help with an issue regarding automating the process of spotting clips onto the timeline. Does anyone in the community have any ideas to help Trent?

I will be working a job soon where the client is giving me an asset library and a cue sheet. I would like to create a way to embed the timecode into the clips provided, then spot the clips onto the timeline in a semi automated fashion. In my experiments so far, using QuicKeys I've been able to automate the timecode input, where I can select the desired clip then switch over to the document, select the timecode, switch back into Pro Tools, paste in the timecode and stamp it.

But I haven't been able to find a way to then drop down to the next clip in the list of audio files in the folder, as there doesn't seem to be a shortcut to drop the selection down by one.

The next step is to Spot the selection to the timeline, but there isn't a shortcut for that either as it is a drag and drop process. Once I drag it onto the timeline I have to then click the 'User Time Stamp' button to inject the timecode into the field, and then hit Enter.

It would be fantastic if I could simply create a macro to embed the clients timecode into the clips, and then move the clip to the desired location within one or two steps. Ideally i'd like to keep my hands off the mouse as much as possible. I was also curious if i'm going about this the wrong way, and it would be simpler to embed the timecode into the clips using Soundminer or similar. But that still leaves me with the issue of spotting the clips to the timeline circumventing the drag and drop method. Or is there any way to trigger the Spot Dialog window to open with a keyboard shortcut, as opposed to a mouse click. I thought I might be able to create an AppleScript to do this, but so far I haven't had any luck. I've also tried Keyboard Maestro, which I've had some luck with but doesn't solve my issue completely.

So does anyone have any ideas of how Trent could achieve this need to spot a set of audio clips against a list of timecode values as a block rather than having to use the Spot option one at a time? It would be great to see if as a community we can come up with a solution for Trent.
