We have received a number of questions on the issue of a DigiLink license and whether one will be needed and whether it will need to be bought for $299 or not. So in the first of a series of FAQs on Pro Tools we are going to look at when you will need a DigiLink license or if you will need to pay $299 for it.

I am planning to upgrade my old TDM system, will I need to buy a DigiLink license?

If you are taking advantage of a legacy hardware exchange package, then you will be getting an HD Series I/O and there will be a DigiLink Activation card will be included in the box with your Avid HD Series I/O enabling you to get a DigiLink license at no extra charge.

Where can I get my new Pro Tools 12.6 system from?

We recommend that you should go to an Avid approved dealer whether you are in the market for a new Pro Tools HD system, with or without a 3rd party interface, or you want to upgrade an older system.
