Loopcloud - An Alternative Pro Tools Workspace Browser For Musicians

Our friends at Loopmasters have announced a new cloud-based loop library application called Loopcloud that integrates within any DAW as a plugin enabling users to get loops down from the cloud and into their sessions fast. I feel that Loopcloud could be the perfect Pro Tools Workspace Browser alternative for Pro Tools music producer users. Watch the teaser video below to get a quick idea of what Loopcloud is about.

How Does Loopcloud Work?

Loopcloud is a brand new application for browsing and managing samples, MIDI files and presets featuring drag and drop functionality from application to a DAW timeline. Loopcloud boasts a very powerful search engine - search by name, tempo and user-editable tags. Users can even audition and download only the files they need saving valuable hard drive space. With a single login, users can also synchronise their libraries across multiple computers.

Import Purchased Loopmasters Loops

When Loopmasters customers launch Loopcloud the cloud system will populate with user past purchased loops from Loopmasters. In the not so distant future, the Loopcloud store will have millions of inspirational samples ready to use in production. Another great feature to be added will be the ability to upload and tag personal sample libraries.

Could Loopcloud Be Better Than The Pro Tools Workspace Browser?

I believe Loopcloud will be a far more intuitive method of getting loops into Pro Tools sessions. Pro Tools music users will surely prefer Loopcloud to the Pro Tools Workspace Browser. The times I have used the Pro Tools Workspace Browser I've found it unintuitive and difficult to locate audio I want on my system.

When I am working in a session and I need a loop that's not on my hard drive I look online. I load a web browser, search Google for a loop, listen to that loop in the browser while trying to play the Pro Tools session in the background (to get an idea of context) then I purchase the loop (often a bundle of loops) and then download/import audio to Pro Tools. The functionality that Loopcloud promises seems to do away with this long winded workaround. Workflow, search engine, cloud and future store tick all the boxes for me as I won't need to leave my session again in pursuit of loops thus keeping me in my Pro Tools session locked to the song I'm working on.

When Will Loopcloud Be Available?

Loopcloud will be initially available for all current Loopmasters users. Free release of Loopcloud is expected early Q1 2017.
