Event Report - Up Close & Personal With ADAM Audio's New S Series Monitors

We love attending Pro Audio Events, especially when great studio gear is on display in the company of great people. On the 11th October 2017, Pro Tools Expert attended an ADAM Audio S Series listening event, hosted by JigSaw24 and the ADAM Audio Team at Dean Street Studios - London. James Ivey & I attended.

Roughly 40 pro audio professionals turned up and were given the opportunity to get "up close and personal" with ADAM Audio's latest S Series range of near-midfield and main monitors.

ADAM Audio S Series Monitors On Display

  • S2V
  • S3V
  • S3H
  • S5V
  • S5H

Out of the five sets of monitors on display, three models were wired up for us to listen to:

  • The S2V "entry level" S series monitors
  • The S3H main monitors
  • The humongous S5H monitors.

The S5H main monitors are so large we thought it would be a good idea to take a picture with one of them so that you could get an idea of just how big these boxes are. Each monitor weighs 80Kg, in guitar amp maths that's the weight of two and a half Vox AC30s per speaker!

Don't try this at home kids

Which S Series ADAM Monitor Stood Out The Most

Over the last ten years I have only used ADAM Audio Monitors as my main studio monitors. I currently own the old ADAM P22a midfield monitors - I absolutely adore them. I have never considered switching them out for any other monitor, I love the P22a monitors that much.

ADAM Audio Monitors are best known for producing beautiful clarity in the top-end while delivering perfect precision in low-end. I attended the ADAM S Series event to find out if that ADAMs DNA made it into the new S Series and also to hear if the overall sonics of the ADAMs had been improved over the years. Let's put it this way, I left the event with a big smile on my face and the brochure is currently sitting on my desk... don't tell my wife!

Out of the monitors on display, the monitors that caught my attention were the smaller S2V models. To my ears, the S2V sounded extremely focused, especially when compared to the larger S3H monitors. All the monitors on display at the event delivered a huge sound but I felt as though the S2Vs sounded less shouty. The ADAM S2Vs could very well be a worthy "crossgrade" from my current ADAM P22a Monitors.

We will soon be receiving a set of ADAM Audio S2V monitors for review, keep your eyes on Pro Tools Expert over the coming weeks for the video.

Thanks again to the guys at Dean Street Studios, JigSaw24 and ADAMS for hosting a great event
