Poll Results - Routing Automation In Pro Tools - 86% Say We Do Not Need It

Todd Grace is a re-recording mixer at Warner Bros. Studios, who has just replaced an 80 fader Neve DFC that was used on the Matrix with an 80 Fader S6, posted this interesting request on the DUC recently. Todd asked, "Why isn't everyone in the post community making noise about the single biggest omission in Pro Tools mixing for the post community? Routing and Pre/Post fader switch automation are important parts of everyday post mixing ... I'm aware that there are workarounds, but workarounds do not a complete toolset make".

The majority of people posting to the thread on the DUC were in favour including Pete Gates, Frank Kruse, and Adam Daniels. Then our own Alan Sallabank added his thoughts to the story. There were a few people not in favour including "FilmMixer".

I was very surprised at the results of the poll to see that 86.46% of the voters wouldn't like to have routing automation in Pro Tools whereas only 13.54% would like it.

It leaves me wondering why the vote went the way it did. Was it people for who routing automation would play no part in their workflow voting it down? Or is there a silent majority of users that just don't want it? If you voted against having routing automation, please share your reasons in the comments below so we can get a better understanding of why the vote against was so high.
