In this video tutorial for Pro Tools Expert, Technical Editor James Ivey heads back to Black Dog Studio to chat with Producer and Engineer Sean Genockey. 

The aim of this series of videos is to debunk some of those audio myths around terminologies that we feel we understand.

The first subject James and Sean tackle is Gain Structure. It's a term we hear all the time but do we actually know what it means?  In this first of two parts, Sean talks about the importance of Gain Structure, how it can affect our mixes and how, with the use of a good reference device we make sure we are always "lined up" correctly and that our signal path is appropriate for the equipment that we are using in our recording environments.
