Apple Confirm Special Event For September 12th 2017 - What Will They Announce?

Apple has now confirmed the date for their next 'special event' for September 12th, 2017. The term 'special event' is Apple code for "we have some announcements to make" but what will those announcements be? We take a look at some of the rumours around at the moment...

The special event on Sept 12, will be the inaugural event for the new Steve Jobs Theater on Apple’s new corporate campus and the event will start at 10 am PDT and you can watch it on any Mac or iOS device in Safari, or on an Apple TV. If you are on a Windows machine Apple says Microsoft Edge in Windows 10 should also work.  mark the 10th anniversary of the iconic device.

What Will Be Announced?

10th Anniversary iPhone - It is expected the highlight of the show will be a new iPhone model. It looks like Apple will be getting the new iPhone 7s and 7s Plus ready, and it is rumoured that they are to be launched alongside a new iPhone which may feature a nearly bezel-free design to mark the 10th anniversary of the iconic device.

Other features, apparently to be included in this new top-end iPhone, could include facial recognition for unlocking, the dropping of the Home button and an OLED display designed to improve power efficiency and the display of true black in graphics and images. There are also rumours it may include wireless charging as a possible additional feature. 

HomePod and Apple TV - Apple may also take this opportunity to say more about the HomePod, Apple’s upcoming smart speaker, which they revealed in June at its annual developer's conference, promised for December 2017. There are also possibilities they may talk about the Apple TV, which is due for a hardware refresh, which it is rumoured will include support for 4K and HDR image output.

Apple Watch and Updated Operating Systems - An Apple Watch with its own cellular connection could also make an appearance on Sept 12th, as well as operating system updates likely to be, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, iOS 11, watchOS 4, and tvOS 11.

All of this is, of course, rumour and speculation, but there does seem to be about of agreement amongst the rumour sites about this event. So tune in and see if Apple deliver on these or pull something completely new out of the hat.
