Todd-AO Release Absentia DX V1.31 With New Hum Remover Algorithm

Todd-AO has released Absentia DX 1.31 with a new and enhanced algorithm, that uses a higher resolution spectral analysis, that detects and removes more hum models than before. Watch the video from Todd-AO to see and hear how the new hum remover algorithm performs.

What Is Absentia DX?

Absentia DX has been designed to simply drag and drop volumes, folders, or sound files directly onto the application or the settings window and files will begin processing. An Absentia DX progress window will appear, with the number of sound files queued, and a status bar of the files being simultaneously processed. The processed sound files’ metadata and Sound File ID are identical to the original files.  With identical metadata, you can swap the original files with ABDX files or vice versa.

The Absentia DX algorithm is designed to analyse production dialog recordings and then removes obvious hums, wireless rings, and ticks, while maintaining the integrity of the human voice. ABDX was developed for a network television show with difficult production sound that resulted in substantial repetitive manual labour.

Mike's Thoughts On Absentia DX v1.26

This is a very clever application that is great for batch processing complete folders of production sound, it's the sort of job you could hand off an assistant to setup and process. I have to say the Hum Remover is spectacular, and the Broadband Reducer and Tick Remover are great on normal audio that just needs a little cleaning up.  The price is amazing just $49, so if you regularly have production sound coming in that needs a little work doing on it then you should check out Absentia DX from Todd-AO.
