Tutorial - Why Is It I Sometimes Can't Use Heal Separation In Pro Tools?

See this content in the original post

In this premium video tutorial, Pro Tools Expert team member Julian Rodgers explains why it is that, when editing in Pro Tools, Heal Separation is only available some of the time.

Whole Files And Clips

Heal Separation is the equivalent of tools like the Glue Tool in Logic which can be used to join back together clips which previously have been separated by a cut. This cut can be of any length. large gaps can be healed but not without restriction. Sometimes the heal command is greyed out and unlike Logic Pro Tools doesn't offer any advice about why this is or what you might do to get around this.

In this video tutorial Julian explains the relationship between clips on the timeline and their parent files and offers a couple of suggestions of what might be done instead of a Heal even the criteria for it being available aren't met.
