In this free video tutorial brought to you in with the support of Plugin Alliance, Pro Tools Expert team member Julian Rodgers demonstrates using cycle mode to create Tremolo effects, and using a MIDI track to trigger the gate for tempo fixed tremolo effects. 

Noise G8

In Cycle Mode G8 loops through its setting continuously, creating a cyclic amplitude modulation - i.e. Tremolo. Using a MIDi trigger this gate can be as precise as you like, from tempo fixed tremolo through to syncopated patterns.

Depth And Speed, And Much More

There isn't a Speed or Rate control, instead, the length of the cycle (i.e. the rate) is the sum of the attack, release, hold and delay settings. The Attack is the time from maximum attenuation (closed) to "open", the release is the time from open to closed, the hold time is the time the gate is held open and the delay is additional time which can be dialled in holding the gate closed before the cycle repeats. The depth of the effect is controllable via the Reduction control and the whole effect can be dialled back via the wet/dry control.
