What Is the Difference Between The New And The Old G Series Plug-in?

The most significant difference between the new and the old plug-ins is under the hood. The new plug-in is a total re-working of the modelling and there are significant improvements - and of course SSL have given it their seal of approval. There are visible differences too.

The UI has been refreshed with coloured knob caps and new meters, there is now a mix control on the compressor section but the most significant new feature for me is the THD All control.

THD All, and V Gain All

The THD All and V Gain All controls offer a global setting for V Gain and THD. V Gain is the level of the modelled analogue noise generated by the plug-in and there is a per-channel control for this, the All control functions as a global offset. the THD All control has no direct channel control. what it does is drive all instantiations on the plug-in further (or less far) into distortion. Like running a real console hotter or cooler.
