Avid Announce Main Stage Program For NAMM 2018

If you are going to be at NAMM 2018 then be sure to check out the Avid Main Stage program of events. You will be able to learn from the best at our daily sessions featuring Grammy Award-nominated and winning mixers and producers or get a behind-the-scenes perspective from the teams that bring you blockbuster film and television sound design. 

Avid Press Conference

At the top of the show at 10:15am on Jan 25th, join Avid's CEO Louis Hernandez, Jr., as he talks about Avid's plans for 2018. Louis will be joined on stage by Grammy nominees Andrés Torres and Mauricio Rengifo, the producers behind 2017’s Grammy Award-nominated smash hit “Despacito”.

Pensado's Place

At 1 pm on Jan 25th, 26th & 27th Dave Pensado and Herb Trawick will be presenting Pensado’s Place featuring Andrés Torres and Mauricio Rengifo, the producers behind 2017’s Grammy Award-nominated smash hit “Despacito”, Ariel Borujow, and Alan Meyerson.

Immersive Electronic Music Creation

Producer, guitar player and songwriter Matt Lange will be showing you how he composes, mixes and advances his music in Pro Tools. You will be able to see how he creates even more engaging and immersive musical experiences using Pro Tools Dolby Atmos integration.

Matt will be on the Avid stage at 11:30 am on Jan 25th, 10 am on both Jan 26th, 27th and 28th as well as 1:30 pm on Jan 28th, 2018.

Music Creation

Avid's own music makers Greg Chin, Ozzie Sutherland, and Jeff Komar will on stage to help you get to grips with all the latest features in Pro Tools 12.

They will be on the Avid stage at 2:15 pm & 5:30 pm on Jan 25th, 26th & 27th as well as 12 pm & 3:45pm on Jan 28th 2018.

Sound For Post

Even though NAMM is largely a music related show Avid are putting on 4 These four ‘Sound For Post’ sessions designed to take you behind the scenes on the re-recording, mixing, and sound design that drives blockbuster movies and television. 

  • Friday January 26
    • 11:30 AM – Will Files, PK Hooker, Dave Grimaldi, Doug Murray, Jack Whittaker, and John Morris discuss War for the Planet of the Apes at 11:30 AM.
    • 4:30 PM – the upside-down comes to the Avid main stage as the folks behind Stranger Things deep-dive into Demogorgons and the Hawkins Lab sub-universe. On the stage will be: sound designer Craig Henighan, supervising sound editor Brad North, music editor David Klotz, and sound FX editor Jordan Wilby.
       
  • Saturday, January 27
    • 11:30 AM – Academy Award® winner and supervising sound editor Mark Mangini and re-recording mixers Ron Bartlett and Doug Hemphil, discuss Blade Runner 2049.
    • 4:30 PM – the team behind Game Of Thrones talks dragons, Targaryans, and impending winter. On the stage will be: re-recording mixer Onnalee Blank, supervising sound editor Tim Kimmel, foley editor/mixer Brett Voss, foley artist Dylan Tuomy-Wilhoit, sound designer Paula Fairfield, music editor David Klotz.

Examining The Creative Process

Want to see what’s behind the mix? At various times throughout the show on all four days, you will be able to join top mixers and producers examine their Pro Tools sessions on the Avid stage.

You will be able to learn from Ariel Borujow, MarioSo DeJesus, Craig Bauer, Andrés Torres & Mauricio Rengifo, and Lu Diaz as they show you a glimpse into how they achieve their unique sounds.

Sibelius

At 3:45 pm on Jan 35th, 26th & 27th you will be able to see how Sibelius can help artists shape their scores. John Meehan talks about his experience with Sibelius and the 18-time D.C.I. world champion Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps.

Perspectives on the Art of Making Music

In partnership with BMG, Avid will be presenting a series of discussions about creativity, navigating the music business, and the technology that enables their careers. Justin Gray, Rob Kleiner, and Mark Yaeger will be discussing avenues for success in the industry the areas of publishing, pop music production, and film composing.
