Blue Cat Audio Reveal Details Of Their Axiom Multi-effects Processor & Amp Simulation Software

Blue Cat Audio has been running a series of teasers about a new product they are planning to announce at NAMM 2018. As part of that campaign, we have learnt that it is called Axiom and the tease pictures suggested it was some kind of amp sim plug-in but they have revealed much more and now we know that it is now only an amp sim plug-in but also a multi-effects processor designed for guitar and bass.

Axiom not unsurprisingly based on their Destructor plug-in for amp simulations, and Blue Cat say that "Axiom offers an infinite number of exceptional tones for your axe".

Two Amp Simulation Channels

Blue Cat’s Axiom includes two amp simulations channels, with pre and post effects, that can be mixed together or used alternatively like a real amp. You will be able to choose your amp models from hundreds of presets or launch the amp editor, which is also based on Blue Cat’s Destructor, to build your own, with complete control over all the parameters.

Additional input and master sections will let you adjust the tone at the input and the output of Axiom, with 4 additional effect slots each. A brickwall limiter will also protect the output from clipping.

Effects And Plug-Ins

We understand that Axiom will include more than 30 built-in effects that can be loaded in any of the 32 plug-in slots, including a built-in version of Late Replies for creative delays and reverbs, and a built-in version of Destructor to enable you to create your own distortion pedals, cabinets or additional amp simulations.

But Axiom is not limited to its included effects, in typical Blue Cat fashion these slots can also host third-party Audio Unit, VST or VST3 plug-ins, enabling you to also be able to use your favourite plug-ins anywhere in the signal chain to expand Axiom’s capabilities.

Tools And Instruments

Blue Cat has also added a tools section with 3 additional slots to host virtual instruments: load a metronome, a drum machine, sequencer or your keyboardist’s favourite synthesizer and these can be mixed with the guitar sound.

StandAlone Or Plug-In

Blue Cat’s Axiom will be available as a standalone application or plug-in (AAX, VST, VST3, Audio Unit) for Mac and Windows.

Upgrade Paths

Blue Cat tell us that upgrade paths will be available from the Destructor and Late Replies plug-ins, and they will be offering 20% off these plug-ins until the end of the NAMM show.

However, at the time of writing, no price information is available.

Blue Cat Audio At NAMM 2018

Blue Cat Audio will be demoing the Axiom at the Winter NAMM Show on booth #16300, and the release is expected in Q2 2018. If you at NAMM then Blue VCat Audio are giving away these plectrums, but hurry because Dan is after 1 or 10 of them!
