Scrolling Options In Pro Tools 2018.7

In 2018.7 it is now possible to change scrolling options during playback, not a big deal but useful and something you might not think to try unless you knew it had changed.

Manually Centre The Playhead

Continuous scrolling tends to be difficult to watch unless your computer is very powerful in terms of its graphical performance. To achieve smooth continuous scrolling necessarily involves redrawing the screen continuously. Page Scrolling is a sensible compromise but can be annoying, particularly when editing during playback. Using the shortcut down arrow and right arrow centres the playback cursor on the screen. This is a clever combination of two well known shortcuts.

Mouse users can gain control of scrolling and zooming using the mouse wheel with modifiers.

Scroll To Track

While not exactly the same kind of Scrolling, Scroll to Track, introduced in Pro Tools 12.8.2 offers a useful extra method for navigating large sessions
