Unpitched MIDI Tracks And Note Chasing In Pro Tools. Do You Know What They Are? - Expert Tutorial

In this free video tutorial, brought to you with the support of Avid, Pro Tools Expert Team member Julian Rodgers investigates Note Chasing and Pitched MIDI tracks in Pro Tools.

Note Chasing

MIDI notes play when a note on message is received from the host. Because of this if you start playback from the middle of a long MIDI note it shouldn’t play. But in Pro Tools it does because of a feature called Note Chasing. This is on by default but if for some reason you find this behaviour not what you want this will be the first place to go to fix it.

Pitched MIDI Tracks

By default MIDI is pitched in Pro Tools. However MIDI notes are used for far more than playing notes and MIDI notes which trigger patterns in VIs or drum samples need to be excluded from transpositions. this is why the option exists to switch off the default Pitched behaviour in Pro Tools.
