Avid Let It Slip That Pro Tools 2018.10 Is Coming In Venue 6.0 Release Notes

It would appear as if Avid are planning a Pro Tools 2018.10 release sometime in October. Community member Victor spotted it in an Avid pdf and we have tracked it down to the What’s New in VENUE_6.0 pdf.

This is what is on page 15 of the What’s New in VENUE_6.0 pdf…

Live Sound Production Toolkit Integrated into Pro Tools

Beginning with Pro Tools 2018.10, the functionality provided by the Live Sound Production Toolkit is included in Pro Tools and is automatically enabled whenever the Playback Engine is set to E6L. For maximum compatibility you should still transfer the Live Sound Production Toolkit to your Pro Tools iLok to enable 64- and 128-channel Pro Tools AVB with Pro Tools 2018.7 or earlier.

There is also a 2nd reference to Pro Tools 2018.10 in the same document on page 1…

System Requirements and Compatibility

Avid can only assure compatibility and provide support for hardware and software it has tested and approved. For complete system requirements and a list of qualified computers, operating systems, hard drives, cables, displays, other third-party devices, and versions of Pro Tools® software, visit: www.avid.com/S6Lsupport

In addition:

  • As of VENUE software version 5.7.1, Mac OS X 10.13 “High Sierra” is qualified for Pro Tools with S6L.

  • Minimum Pro Tools version: 12.8.3 or later. Recommended Pro Tools version: 2018.10 or later.

So it would appear that Venue 6.0 requires Pro Tools 2018.10. Community member Georges Majerus has shared a response from Avid to his question if they would support 10.13.6:

Hello Georges,

That is correct. The next release is under development but we don't have an exact ETA.

Bo

Avid Audio

Although Bo doesn’t name Pro Tools 2018.10 it looks like this new version will also support macOS 10.13.6.

Of course it’s early in October so Avid have several weeks yet to release Pro Tools 2018.10 and we don’t yet know what else might be in Pro Tools 2108.10. Rest assured if we do find anything else out about the new version of Pro Tools 2018 we will bring it to you.
