This free video tutorial is the second part of a new series for Pro Tools Expert. Technical Editor James Ivey talks with Grammy-nominated and Pensado Award-winning recording and mix engineer Steve Genewick about his mix template and session setup. 

In this video, Steve starts by laying out the session and talking about why he orders the tracks in the way he does, then moving on to show the bare bones of his mix template that will be imported into the main working session.  Steve's mix template is not much more than the basic effects and routing that will be imported using Import Session Data to the main mixing session but Steve explains what does what and why.

This series just goes to show there are a great many ways to use Pro Tools to mix a song or music track. Take from this what you will and add it to your workflow.
