HISSandaROAR Rleases DIG Mini Library

Digging is a recurring event in film & TV, and while Tim Prebble has recorded digging before for specific projects, this is the first time HISSandaROAR set out to capture a more complete set of performances and props called DIG. Using two shovels, a spade, a fork, a pick, a scythe, a crowbar and a stamper they recorded performances in the dead of night, working with soil, sand, gravel & clay.

No one digs a hole in a film without a reason so they have also included the prop of a small wooden box/coffin. This led to an interesting approach to recording: the exterior recordings were captured similarly to an exterior foley shoot, using an MKH8050 close-up and an MKH70 wider. But to capture a unique perspective from inside the coffin, two MKH8020 omni mics were carefully placed and sealed inside the coffin. At first, they thought this would be useful solely for the performances involving the coffin ie burying it, digging it up etc… But after listening in the studio it soon became apparent the ambient resonance from inside the coffin was interesting as an element with almost all of the recordings.

While the immediate application for this library is very practical ie digging sound effects, these sounds are also very useful in seemingly unrelated tasks such as augmenting gore and sword stabs and slices, large-scale foot step additions, impacts, body falls and debris, as well as a unique source for organic stings.

Immersive FX Release Bedford CA Dormobile Sound Library

The Bedford CA was a British light utility vehicle, produced by Bedford Motors, based in Luton in the county of Bedfordshire, just north of London, U.K from 1952 to 1969.

It was available in many formats, including as a conversion to a small motorhome or R.V., known as The Dormobile, made by a company in Folkstone, Kent. It came complete with a table, bench seats that converted to beds, a simple bottled-gas cooker, a sink and a small closet. It also featured an expanding roof which allowed occupants to stand up in the rear section. This model dates from 1958 and is an early version. All files in the Bedford CA Dormobile Sound Library are 96/24 and stereo, except the under bonnet (hood) recording, which is mono.

SKYES Audio Release Abandoned Doors Sound Effects Library

Finding the right door sound can be a pain, thus Abandoned Doors was recorded with that need in mind. All the 1400+ sounds were recorded in abandoned mansions and houses with unique sonic characteristics, in stereo, usually from two perspectives (inside the room and in the hallway), allowing you a great deal of choice and offering sonic diversity. Additionally, splitting the stereo tracks into mono will give you two more slightly different perspectives on each sound.

The Abandoned Doors library offers a multitude of door recordings, ranging from heavy wooden doors found in turn of the century mansions to cheap old doors in an abandoned warehouse, being opened, closed, slammed, knocked on, kicked, banged on, and even hit with a bat.

Whilst most door libraries simply name files ‘door open 01’, etc, Abandoned Doors has been carefully tagged with rich SoundMiner metadata and multiple keywords, giving you a clearer image of what a file contains just by reading the title.
