Avid Announce A New Connect App Coming Soon

Avid has announced that they will be releasing a new Connect app for desktop or mobile devices later this Spring which will replace the Application Manager app and add new functionality including being able to create a profile, find other like-minded talented users to collaborate with on a project, access to 'Lounges', where you can contribute to real-time discussions on different industry or product topics and purchase compatible tools to help inspire creativity directly from the Avid Marketplace.

Be Part Of The Artist Community

With this new app, you will be able to access the Avid Artist Community. From the app, build your profile with a portfolio of your best works to help promote yourself for jobs, and find other like-minded talented users to connect, message, or collaborate with on a project.

Add your latest music tracks from Pro Tools or scores from Sibelius, and tag yourself with talents or skills so others can easily find you when looking for a collaborator on one of their projects. The app is being designed so it should be easier to make connections, send messages, or chat with collaborators. If you need a certain instrument on your latest track or want to find other artists for a project, you can search for them in the new “Find Talent” area of the app. Set the filters to find who you’re looking for, send a contact invitation, and start chatting about how you can work together, all from within the Connect app.

Use The Lounges In The Connect App

Divided into three separate categories, Avid will be creating lounges for Media Composer, Pro Tools, and Sibelius in an effort to facilitate an interactive community.

These lounges will function much like forums, through the mobile and desktop app and are being designed for more instantaneous communication, feedback, sharing, and troubleshooting.

It's not clear if these will be in addition to, or instead of the DUC.

Keep Up To Date With Avid Related News And Information

As Pro Tools, Media Composer, and Sibelius are being updated more regularly, the Avid Connect App is being designed by Avid to be a hub for all of the latest information related to your Avid products. You will be able to stay up to date on your desktop or mobile device just by using the “Home” tab to view the News Feed. Here, you’ll find all of the latest news in the 3 categories - audio, notation, and video. The aim is that you will be able to see the latest features of every new release, discover tips and tricks to improve your workflow in Avid created blogs, or be inspired by customer stories.

Connect App Will Include Application Manager Features

While new features will be introduced into the Avid Connect App, the plan is that it will also have all of the functionality from the Application Manager, but designed to have what Avid describe as "a more intuitive interface and more functionality".

Avid is planning to consolidate four of the Application Manager tabs into a single My Products tab in the Connect app, where you will be able to manage all of your purchased products. This includes licensing, downloading, installing, and even redeeming new products.  There will be filters in the My Products tab, designed to quickly view any of your purchased products (Media Composer, Pro Tools or Sibelius), plug-ins, or codecs & drivers.  You will be able to filter based on any of your products that need to be updated without scrolling through every single product, designed to help you to get back to being creative. You will also you’ll be able to purchase compatible tools directly from the Avid Marketplace.

Lets hope that Avid have made the Connect app alot more reliable than the existing Application Manager.
