How To Have More Than One Plug-in Window Open In Pro Tools Explained In Under A Minute

In a new format we are producing videos offering tips and solutions to common problems in under a minute. In this free video tutorial we show you how easy it is to have more than one plug-in window open in Pro Tools.

Using The Target Button

Using the mouse, you can just un-check the red Target button in the top right of the plug-in window. If you then click on another plug-in it will open leaving the untargeted plugin window open. If you think it hasn’t worked it might be because the new plug-in window is smaller than the old one as unless you move the first one the new one will open behind it!

Using Shift

The most convenient way to open multiple plug-in windows is to hold Shift while clicking in the next plug-in. This achieves the same thing but in a single operation.

Close All Floating Windows In Pro Tools

If you have multiple plug-ins open it can be slow to close all those open windows. To close them all in a single action press Command+Option+Control+W or Control+Alt+Start+W on a PC. This will close all floating windows so things like the transport window, automation window or memory locations window will close too.
