For all the details on Pro Tools 2019.12 with Catalina Support, check out our article Pro Tools 2019.12 - macOS Catalina Support Is Here - With Some Restrictions. In this article, we list out all the bug fixes that Avid have resolved in 2019.12. Check it out to see if they have fixed a bug that was troubling you…

Accessibility

  • Fixed a voiceover bug where the focus ring jumped after a Plug-in window was closed if it had been previously instantiated using the legacy menu.

Automation

  • Pro Tools 2019.6 (and earlier) now posts a warning dialog that the Steep Breakpoint Smoothing Time setting will be cleared.

Control Surfaces

  • Clicking a track name in Pro Tools will once again attention track to surfaces when the 'Attention Most Recently Clicked DAW Area' preference is set.

Crashes and Errors

  • Fixed a crash that would occur when opening a session that contains the Dolby Production Suite Send/Return plug-ins if the session frame rate had not been explicitly set since launch.

  • Fixed a crash that may occur during a file relink operation.

  • Fixed a crash when using VENUE link to "create session from VENUE"

  • Fixed a crash on quit when plug-in UI was opened.

  • Removed an assert that was thrown when sample-level zooming in and out with media on a NAS/Nexis .

Editing

  • Fixed an issue where re-rendering Clip FX did not correctly apply parameter changes.

Import

  • Fixed an issue where some Wav (OMF) files would not display an ID in the Unique ID field, which would result in missing files when importing the associated AAF.)

  • Enabling "Adjust Session Start Time to Match Source Start Time" in Import Session Data will now display "Maintain Absolute Time Code Values".

Installer

  • Fixed an issue where the HD driver would fail to load if the installer was run over the top of an existing HD driver installation.

Performance

  • Fixed an issue where muted clips on Nexis were causing severe lags in playback scrolling and editing because they were not included in disk cache.

Post

  • Fixed a case where Pro Tools would fail to lock to incoming video reference after launch if the Video Ref Format is not explicitly set.

Video

  • Desktop video window no longer displays incorrect colour or kaleidoscope picture when the window is first opened during playback.

  • Progressive video will now play in the video window if the Sync HD is set to an i/psf video reference rate.

  • Fixed an issue where some MXF video files would set the wrong engine raster size upon import.

  • AAE -9073 is no longer seen after shuttling with a video track present.

  • The NewTech NDI plug-in is now ignored by the video engine when Pro Tools is co-installed with Media Composer on macOS.  This prevents several problems, including: file import errors, black picture, and false detection of video hardware.

  • H.264 QuickTime files may now have a checkmark on clips, which indicates that a file is encoded in a way that is expected to perform well.  This checkmark may also exist for other codecs, but it is newly indicated for H.264 files.  It is not a guarantee of good performance, but rather a good indication that the file will play without issues, provided the computer's drive speed and CPU's are sufficient.  The Processing State setting must be enabled in view options for the Clip List and Edit Window in order to see the checkmark.

Workspace

  • The manual find and relink window will now display the SMPTE ID column by default.

  • Fixed an issue where clips would not show up after dragging catalogued missing files to a session.

Miscellaneous

  • Bounce windows will now use the session name instead of the template name for the file name.

  • Timecode entries in the Edit > Shift window will now work after double-clicking in the window to select all of the text.

  • Pasting values into Edit>Shift Window will now apply the values correctly.

  • Export Session Info as Text will now indicate the proper session frame rate for rates higher than 30 fps.

  • SMPTE ID's in .wav files now use the proper endian byte order.

  • Pro Tools will no longer start after quitting the application on Windows OS.
