How Much Delay Should I Use For Haas Panning?

While the Haas effect is very effective at placing sounds in the panorama it’s not commonly used. This is probably because a level based pan pot is much easier to build, especially using analogue components and is pretty well on every mixing console, hardware of software, analog or digital. However anyone who has ever experimented with Haas delays will have found out that rather than a precise panning effect, they usually get a general sense of width and potential for comb filtering when summed to mono.
