This week's featured free plug-in from our free plug-ins database is Monastery Grand from Melda Productions.
What Is Monastery Grand?
Designed with modern pop and rock music production, this free instrument is suitable for any music style. Monastery Grand users can blend between three mic choices. It also includes its own effects section comprising Compressor, Delay, Enhancer, and Reverb and an automatic harmony feature so you can stack octaves fifths and more to create single-note chords.
Monastery Grand also comes with another instrument — Monastery Grand Creative, a piano-based looped version of the original Monastery Grand samples, so each key can play for as long as the user wants, while also allowing four resonators and a filter to arbitrarily transform the piano into something completely different!
Best of all, Monastery Grand is free, and available by simply downloading and installing it within MSoundFactory — also available for free as MSoundFactory Player by simply signing up for the trial version of MSoundFactory (with all sounds and instruments included, third-party sounds fully supported, and unlimited customisations), which defaults to MSoundFactory Player (with limited sounds included, third-party sounds fully supported, and no customisations) after 15 days.
The download links lead to the Melda installer, which offers as many of the Melda products as you wish to install, Select the full version of MSoundFactory and run it in demo. As stated above it reverts to the free version after the trial has expired.
To install the Monastery Grand samples click Menu in the top right of MSoundFactory and select Install Product.
How Does It Sound? It’s OK. We’re not going to pretend its the best piano instrument out there but it’s not fair to compare a free instrument with a paid-for product. It’s an improvement on a stock DAW ROMpler piano and it offers some interesting variation in sound via the different mics. Try it, it is free after all!
