Adding And Removing Tracks From Groups Using The S1

Modifying Groups in Pro Tools can be done reasonably quickly using the Modify Groups dialog as along as you don’t manually add and remove, its much better to use track selections and use the Add and Replace buttons at the bottom of the window. If you aren’t familiar with those buttons then watch the video, its all in there.

However using the S1 is much more intuitive as you can just use the Encoder In buttons when running in Groups mode. Tracks can be added or removed just by toggling these switches. to navigate to the desired group hit Surface Shift and press Group (the shift alternative of the Aux button). The button will glow Orange when on Group mode, in Aux it is Yellow.

Once in Group mode use the Page buttons to navigate tp the desired group and any tracks in the current group will have a green light on their In button. Navigate your session using Bank and Nudge and add and remove as desired - Easy!
