How To Toggle Loop Playback In Pro Tools Fast - Pro Tools Tip

This is a really quick tip but no less useful because of it. I’ve been perfectly happy toggling Loop Playback in Pro Tools using CMD+Shift+L (Ctrl+Shift+L on a PC). On the rare occasions, I use it I also use CMD+Ctrl+P (Ctrl+Start+P on PC) to toggle Dynamic Transport on and off. Using two hands to perform a three key keystroke has struck me as slightly laborious but as it’s having to let go of the mouse to hit L which bothers me, the single keystroke alternative of hitting NUM 4 isn’t really a solution as I still have to let go of the mouse. Being right-handed I’m really not going to reach over with my left had to the numeric keypad.

A solution was there all along, which I hadn’t previously considered as it involves using the mouse - the mouse I was complaining about having to let go of in the previous paragraph. Just Ctrl+Click on the Play button on the transport bar or at the top of the Edit window shows the option to toggle between loop and play. Right-clicking might seem like an alternative but the right-click menu involves two clicks. Who’s got time for that?
