When I first purchased my PreSonus Quantum interface, one of the key selling points was the built-in Talkback mic. It provided freedom and efficiency to talk to musicians on the otherside of the proverbial glass. I can't think of a better feature as a cherry to throw on top to really surprise and delight.
And while it's certainly a great deal of fun in pushing Talkback buttons on and off, I've been around the block long enough to know buttons wear out. Knobs get finicky. And sooner or later the slick jelly button labels will eventually wear off.
(Plus, what's more inefficient than repeating the same workflow tics over and over when there's a better way?)
That's where SoundRadix's free plugin comes into play. Muteomatic does the Talkback button pressing for you! Simply instantiate Muteomatic on your Talkback Mic's Channel Strip, and she's primed and ready to go. From then on, whenever you're in recording or playback mode, Muteomatic mutes the Talkback mic's input. Once playback stops, communication is open and ready to commence.
