Winner - Tonsturm Complete+ Sound Library And Plugins Worth £2285

Throughout December we offered the opportunity for over 30 people to win a prize of your choice from an amazing bundle of prizes that we pulled together from our generous partners, worth around £30,000.

Each day, we took a closer look at each of the prizes in turn. Today we are looking at the Tonsturm Complete+ Bundle with all their sound effects libraries as well as their Whoosh and Traveler plugins all worth $2539.

The competition closed on December 31st 2019 and we’re pleased to be able to announce the winner is Barry Ryerson.

I come from a varied musical background which includes composing for and performing viola in orchestras, singing in various choirs and quartets, playing the saxophone, leading a swing band and performing Japanese Taiko at Disneyland Paris and the Royal Albert Hall. I have also developed skills in music technology, recording classical and pop artists, producing CDs, and teaching at FE and HE level before deciding to concentrate on building up my business Ryerson Sound Solutions.

I have always composed music in a wide variety of styles, from lush orchestral scores to drum n bass, from rock to futuristic nostalgia, starting on OctaMED on the old Amiga and these days using Pro Tools. Now, as well as composing, I am quickly building up experience in audio repair, sound design, dialogue editing and re-recording mixing, having recently completed dialogue editing and mixing another feature film.

I've been looking at sample libraries in this price range for a while and adding them to my dream wish list, so it's very exciting to be actually receiving the Tonsturm Complete+ Bundle as a prize. The complex and varied sounds in this bundle will really help me to further push my sound design skills and give me many more options when doing ambience and other audio post-related jobs. The quality seems really impressive from the samples available to hear and I'm looking forward to using them regularly.

Tonsturm WHOOSH

Whoosh is a sound design instrument and enables you to create breathtaking whoosh and pass-by effects. It is possible to precisely design sounds varying from whistling wind whooshes to air ripping engine pass-bys or completely over the top granular sci-fi effects.

The included doppler effects engine was designed from ground up to physical model the acoustic phenomena of an object that approaches, passes, and recedes from an observer.

The individual playback engines, the source mixer and doppler engine can be manipulated in synchronized connection to each other. This makes it possible to playback the desired sound effect at different durations while remaining everything in perfect sync.

Whoosh comes with an extensive onboard sample library licensed from leading sound effect recordists. It includes categories like wind, fire, racing car, jets, metal, water, wild animal and explosion effects.

WHOOSH is a third-party instrument that has been made specifically for REAKTOR PLAYER. It needs to be installed with Native Access. WHOOSH runs with the REAKTOR PLAYER & the full version of REAKTOR.

Traveler Graphical Path Editor

The graphical path editor has the ability to adjust the Duration, Length and Speed parameters, enabling you to be able to set up exactly how the object moves in seconds, frames, miles, meters, beats and more units of measurement.

Traveler Is A Granular Synth Too

As well as live processing to create the Doppler effect, Traveler has a granular sampler, with controls to enable you to adjust the Pitch, Size, Density, Pan, Position and Jitter of sample playback.

Traveler Filters And More

On the right-hand side of the Traveler GUI, there are the physical propagation parameters (Air absorption, Attenuation, Doppler Pitch, Damping…) to improve the realism of the Doppler effect in the plug-in as well as 5 effects (Tremolo, Delay, Distortion, EQ and Compression) designed to provide even more control over the sonic soundscape. As if that wasn’t enough, Traveler also has four custom shapeable LFOs to assign to the sampler and effects controls too.
