Tutorial - Using The Leveler Section Of POWAIR From SoundRadix To Level A Voiceover

See this content in the original post

In this premium video tutorial, Pro Tools Expert team member Julian Rodgers looks at the use of the leveler section of POWAIR, the innovative compressor plug-in from SoundRadix.

Transparent Leveler

The leveler is perhaps the most important section of POWAIR but it's not the part which necessarily gets the attention. It would be a pity to overlook it as it is so good at what it does and nothing else out there does what it does quite as well.

As well an being an integral part of how the compression section can do what it does - apply the same amount of compression regardless of how loud the signal is, the deceptively simple leveler can transparently even out audio to a target loudness is a fully loudness compliant workflow. Levelling to a target in LUFS with True Peak metering and just enough control to work with tricky material, and all in real time.

Understanding Gain Range

In this video tutorial, Julian demonstrates the effect of the Gain Range control by passing progressively louder signal through POWAIR.

Above the Noise Floor Threshold the signal increases in a linear way, with an offset equal to the Gain Range and then as the signal approaches the Target Level it is levelled through the range of the Gain Range both below and above the Target Level, falling back to a linear increase once the lower extent of the Gain Range is exceeded. It's much easier to follow if you watch the video. Keep an eye on the output meter as the signal passes through the Target Level.
