Verdict

I was a big fan of Accusonus' original ERA-N and ERA-R plug-ins. These plug-ins provided me with a simple solution to both reduce noise and reverberation. Truth be told though, reducing the level of reverb in recorded audio is not a process I've needed that much in my work, never the less I was impressed by what ERA-D could achieve. From what I can tell the updates from ERA-N to ERA Noise Remover and ERA-R to ERA Reverb Remover are small. Apart from the obvious renaming of the products, Accusonus have added a plug-in resize feature that I'm sure those who use 4k displays at high resolutions will find useful. In performance, ERA Noise Remover and ERA Reverb Remover both perform just like the original versions, they are easy to set, sound great and get the job of audio repair completed seconds.

The two new audio repair plug-ins in this Accusonus one-knob style series are very powerful. In testing I was pleasantly surprised at how well both performed across a variety of poorly recorded audio examples. ERA Plosive Remover does a great job of attenuating pesky low-end thumps in Ps common in spoken word recordings. To my ears the results of ERA Plosive Remover never sounded touched or mangled. I can report similar findings with ERA De-Esser. This plug-in seems to automatically detect where the problematic sibilance is in the frequency range and by use of the single dial enables me to push down the sibilance in very transparent ways.

What I love about all these ERA one-knob audio repair plug-ins is that they all, in their own way, force me to use my ears. These audio repair tools make it very easy for me to hear when I'm overcooking any one of the processes which enable me to work quickly to get troublesome audio into shape. ERA Noise Remover and ERA Plosive Remover are my top picks from this suite only because I can imagine several applications where both of these will be extremely useful in both mixing voice-overs in post-production and mixing vocals in music production.

Accusonus offer two bundles. The ERA Standard Bundle features all the audio repair tools that someone like myself would ever need. I'm a DSLR content creator and a music producer who occasionally needs to fix poorly recorded audio quickly. For the price, especially at the time-limited introductory price, you will get a fantastic set of tools.

Accusonus also offer a Pro bundle which includes their flagship ERA-D audio repair tool. This is a seriously powerful tool that's worth checking out if you are the type of audio professional that demands the best results from noise removal technologies.
