The team at Warm Audio are very pleased to announce their new multi-pattern valve condenser microphone the WA-251, which, yes you guessed it is an updated recreation of the legends that are the 251 style mics of old.
The Sound Of A Legend
The WA-251 has been created to offer a truly classic microphone design to a new generation of recording artists and recording professionals at an affordable price. Warm say they have spent a great deal of time listening to different ‘251 microphones to determine what people liked about them and why. They looked at how various styles of components impact the tone, and how they could give the new WA-251 microphone a signature tone that pays homage to the vintage classic, but also stands out on its own.
The WA-251 is an all vacuum tube (valve), large diaphragm, transformer balanced, multi-pattern, large condenser microphone, based on the classic 251 that has been used on countless hit records for the last 50+ years. Warm Audio have designed the WA-251 with the pro/home studio, live, and broadcast applications in mind. We are told the mic sounds great on vocals, acoustic/electric guitars, acoustic/electric bass, drums, piano, strings, brass/woodwind instruments, and an array of other sources.
We look forward to seeing and hearing the mic at the winter NAMM show later this month and getting our hands on one of the new WA-251 mics once they starting shipping, which is due to start in February 2019 at the amazing price of $799 (MSPR).
