Today, Apple has received FCC Approval for its new Mac Pro 7,1 new style cheese-grater desktop computer. In this article, we explain the significance of this news and explore how soon the new Apple Desktop computer could be launched.
Why Does This Matter?
The US FCC (Federal Communications Commission) is an independent agency of the United States government set up to regulate interstate communications by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable. The FCC maintains jurisdiction over the areas of broadband access, fair competition, radio frequency use, media responsibility, public safety, and homeland security.
US Federal Communications Commission approval is required before any consumer electronics product goes on sale in the US and today the FCC posted its approval of the new Mac Pro from Apple.
Apparently, the FCC typically publishes Apple's applications the day of release. When the FCC documentation was released for the iMac Pro, opened up pre-orders less than two days later.
What Does This Reveal About The New Mac Pro?
Even though there is a raft of pdf documents, the only new piece of information that the FCC Approval posting reveals is the Apple model number - A1991. Apple can, and has, requested that the FCC indefinitely withhold block diagrams, schematics, and other procedures. Apple has also requested short-term (up to 180 days) confidentiality for other documents, specifically external photographs, internal photographs, test setup photographs and the user manual. Other items like test reports must, and are disclosed with the approval.
You can even read Apple’s Confidentiality Document on the FCC website.
Mac Pro 2019 And MacBook Pro 2019 On The Same Day?
Even though the Apple US site still states ‘Coming This Fall’ and the Apple UK site states ‘Coming This Autumn’, the FFC Approval does suggest the launch is imminent. There is even some speculation that the Mac Pro will be launched on the second Tuesday of November, even though The Fall or Autumn is from around September 21st to December 20th.
There is even speculation that Apple might launch the new Mac Pro 7,1 new style cheese-grater and the new 16” MacBook Pro on the same day as well as a new iMac Pro, but that would be a big ask, but we will have to see.
