Winner - A Pair Of LYD7 Monitors From Dynaudio Worth £1,359

We have a winner for the Pair of LYD 7s generously donated by Dynaudio. He is Tom Fairbairn from Edinburgh.

I am a producer and engineer based in Edinburgh. After learning violin at an early age I became interested in sound through playing in bands as a teenager and have worked in live sound throughout my career. In recent years I've become more deeply involved in production, working on everything from pop mixes through to playing strings on library tracks and small composing jobs for adverts and short films. In conjunction with this I continue to travel as a FOH engineer and tour manager, fitting in occasional bass gigs along the way! My DAW setup is simple and designed for travel, I use both Pro Tools and Logic Pro X; further details of my work can be found at detailsmusic.co.uk

I'm so delighted to win this prize, having using Dynaudio's classic BM5A model a few times in various studios. My current workflow includes lots of time spent on headphones (mostly my trusty Beyer DT150s, sometimes my IEMs) and whilst I anticipate that will continue to be an important part of what I do, the LYD7's will really enhance my listening options at home. One of the most inspiring discoveries of the last year has been pianbook.co.uk and the freely shared sounds there have been a great source of inspiration to write more music. I've no doubt the LYD7 monitors will enrich the experience of finding and playing new sounds!

Throughout December we offered the opportunity for over 30 people to win a prize of your choice from an amazing bundle of prizes that we pulled together from our generous partners, worth around £30,000.

Each day, we took a closer look at each of the prizes in turn. Today we are looking at the LYD 7 Monitors kindly donated by Dynaudio worth $1778.

LYD 5, 7 & 8 Models

In his review of the LYD 5, 7 and 8 James said:

“the LYD-7 is a fantastic replacement for the BM6A MKII. It sits in that space where you want near field size but main monitor sound. The bigger 7 inch drive gives you more of that lovely controlled bottom end when compared to the LYD-5 but it does not push to hard. It is a very natural, real sounding speaker and to be honest these are my favourite for the range.”
