Winner - The Sonnox Elite Bundle Worth £769

We have a winner of the Elite Bundle kindly donated by Sonnox. He is Matti Leino, an audio engineer from Finland.

Wow! Sonnox Elite Bundle. This will be a good addition to my plugin setup. My name is Matti, I live in Finland and..... no, ..we don't have polar bears and it looks like we don't  have snow either this winter in southern Finland :(   its a pity here is rain, wind and dark but.. luckily there is plenty of snow in Lapland.

I started with old Otari 8-track ½ inch tape recorder and Studio Masters desk. As a hobby. That was in 1984. I built my studio ”Masan Studio” in the early 90`s and started a business. Fostex E-16, Souncraft, Soundesigner card, nubus PT, PT Pci-e, now everything is digital: PT HDX2, Avid I/O, 4 Avid Pre, MacPro 5.1, D-Control...

I have been working  in video, tv-series and dubbing productions, including band recordings and mixes for the last 10 years. I mix a lot of animation series for Finnish TV channels and 5.1 format for dvd.

And now finally... I plan to return to work after two years of illness. This plugin bundle is like kicking my ass :) Wake up, man! Ladies and gentlemen, remember to keep your  insurances valid. Life is full of surprises. Thank you Sonnox and PT expert, I appreciate this opportunity to use these products.

Throughout December we offered the opportunity for over 30 people to win a prize of your choice from an amazing bundle of prizes that we pulled together from our generous partners, worth around £30,000.

Each day, we took a closer look at each of the prizes in turn. Today we are looking at the Elite Bundle from Sonnox worth $992.

What Is Included In The Elite Bundle?

Oxford Dynamics

A powerhouse of dynamic control in a single Plug-In that features six independent processes for precision dynamic sculpting of your tracks. From subtle control of a vocal, to a pumping side-chained effect; from lightning-fast gating and precision expansion to peak level limiting of single tracks and buses alike. Sonic clarity at all times – with the option of tube-like harmonic saturation when you need it.

Instead of talking about the use of feed-forward architecture with logarithmic processing, Sonnox chose to quote some users instead:

‘Musical-sounding and intuitive’, ‘Transparent’ and ‘Versatile’,

Oxford EQ

A great sounding EQ is essential to any mix. Which EQ to use can vary depending on artistic requirement, but quality and flexibility are both critical at all times. What if there was one Plug-In with four distinct EQ types – from surgical to musical – with a track record of being used to mix the biggest hits, films, and live shows?

Enter the flagship Oxford EQ, a Plug-In that traces its heritage to the original EQ section on the acclaimed Sony OXF-R3 digital console. Hallmark sonic transparency meets a simple and interactive interface – resulting in quick, confident and great sounding mix decisions.

Oxford Inflator

A unique and powerful Plug-In to increase loudness, without sacrificing sonic quality or dynamic range. Add power and presence to your mix without the pumping of compression, or use on individual channels to bring them forward and add weight. Perfect to help vocals cut through the mix.

When driven harder, Inflator delivers tube-like musical warmth and provides the ‘sonic glue’ you need to gel your mix together!

“Inflator is a rare Plug-In…I can’t live without it. It simply makes everything sound better...”

“Just the right amount of Inflator will breathe life into anything you run through it!

Oxford Limiter

Having crafted and refined your mix, join the growing number of professionals who’ve chosen the Oxford Limiter v3 to deliver maximum loudness, density and presence - whilst retaining the kind of clarity and transient detail that conventional brick-wall limiting can’t.

The Plug-In is a true peak limiter that offers recently enhanced levels of processing and metering accuracy. The result is that you get to see and automatically correct otherwise invisible reconstruction overloads - and conform to the accepted industry ITU-R BS.1770-4 standard.

Whether you’re after the Oxford Limiter's hallmark transparency or heavier creative effects, its advanced look-ahead processing and unique Enhance function provide the sample-value limiting and musical boost needed to reliably avoid clipping and confidently increase apparent loudness.

Oxford Reverb

Designed with the highest technical and sonic performance in mind, the Oxford Reverb is a class-leading stereo reverb with hallmark Sonnox clarity and ease of use. The comprehensive yet intuitive GUI features flexible Early Reflection, Reverb Tail and 5-band Oxford EQ sections. The result is a sound that is natural and enveloping – with the effect sitting in rather than on a mix.

To get you started, over 120 invaluable presets are included – from drier ambiences to open reverberant spaces and from sound effects to settings inspired by classic hardware. With so much control to hand it’s easy to design your own spaces too.

Oxford SurprEsser

Simple and intuitive control of problem frequencies using a precision frequency-conscious compressor. It operates between 20Hz & 20KHz so can be used for much more than simple de-essing.

A specific frequency-band triggers the process when it passes your chosen threshold level.
The result is a gentler, more natural alternative to using a fixed EQ. The combination of 3 listen modes and a clear FFT display allows you to both hear and see where problem frequencies are – before dialling them out with a single control. There’s a simple mode for quick fixes with an advanced mode for increased functionality and fine-tuning.

Oxford TransMod

Modify the transients in your tracks by either increasing or reducing their attacks. Sounds simple, though our bespoke adaptive process working in the background is anything but. Fortunately the interface keeps things straightforward, with two main controls quickly allowing you to bring ‘soggy’ drums to life or give more punch to a bass.

But TransMod is just as relevant to any electronic sound as it is to acoustic ones – pulling transients forward in your mix, or pushing them further back by making the ambience around them more evident. And all this is accomplished without the tonal changes associated with compression.
