Universal Audio has taken their dynamic room modelling technology, used in their Ocean Way Studios plug-in, and recreated the classic sound of 1950s Capitol Records recordings by emulating their iconic underground echo chambers. Capitol Chambers faithfully recreates echo chambers 2, 4, 6, and 7 in exquisite detail. 

A chamber is simply an ambient space, such as a reflective room, that contains speakers, and microphones. The ambiance of the room is captured by recording the sound of the original signal through the speakers, in the chamber.

Each of the four chambers in this plug-in has small variations in overall shape and tonal qualities, a distinct speaker type and placement within the chamber, and a selection of microphones along with their arrangements. 

As the mics move closer to the speaker, the room will sound tighter, and the source will seem more present. Conversely, the chamber gets more diffused when the mics are farther away from the speaker. The Capitol Chambers modelling includes the proximity gain and bass buildup that occurs in the physical realm; the signal may be louder as microphones are positioned closer to the speaker.
