SoundFlow Cloud Pro Annual Subscriptions Competition Winners Announced

During August, we offered the chance to be one of three people to win a 12-month SoundFlow Cloud Pro subscription worth $119.88 each. We can now announce the 3 winners, Felix Andriessens, Alex Noyes and Peter Oskam.

Felix Andriessens

I am a German film sound designer, dialogue editor, production sound mixer and field sound recordist, based in Berlin. Sometimes, I also do re-recording mixing.

As a sound designer / sound editor, I mainly work on feature and documentary films.

As a field sound recordist, I specialise in recording and research in highly immersive 3D recordings together with my colleague sound designer Moritz Hoffmeister, especially for ambiences and Dolby Atmos playback situations. So every now and then, one could say that the field becomes my studio.

I am an AES / bvft / VDT member with a Tonmeister degree from Film University Potsdam and I also teach sound in Berlin, Potsdam, Munich, Germany, and Graz, Austria.

Since I first heard of SoundFlow, I was curious about how I could implement it into my workflow, especially since I use a lot of AudioSuite and external Izotope-RX-processing when editing sound. But I‘ve never found the time to actually try it myself. Until now.

Now that I‘ve won this competition, I guess I finally not only have the possibility for some extensive, 12-month-long testing but also the (I am tempted to say) obligation to do so. There’s nothing like a little bit of pressure to finally do what’s good for you! So I am looking forward to following that obligation and to finally do some serious SoundFlow-ing!

Alex Noyes

I am a Sound Designer, Sound Editor, and Re-recording Mixer and have been working in sound post-production for over 20 years. He has edited and mixed many award-winning films and my work has been heard on HBO, ESPN, PBS (POV and Independent Lens), IFC, The Sundance Channel, Cinemax, Discovery, MTV, TLC, and many other outlets.

I am an Assistant Professor in the Film/Video department of The Pratt Institute, and at The School of Visual Arts graduate school of Computer Arts (MFACA), teaching classes on sound for film and television.

I have also worked extensively as a music recording engineer/mixer and as a Max/MSP programmer creating interactive immersive sound environments and custom music performance systems.

My latest obsession is ambisonic field recordings, travelling extensively to Latin America to make both urban and natural soundscape recordings.

I’m really looking forward to digging into SoundFlow’s powerful toolset. As a professional sound editor, there are countless repetitive tasks that we need to do on every project. I tend to operate on a film project wearing many hats so being able to quickly switch from Dialog and SFX based tasks to mixing and automation is essential. A process that took several steps accessing a menu item, AudioSuite, Noise reduction (RX8!), now everything can happen with a single click instead of 5, 10, 20? Doing all these important but mundane tasks faster means more time to be creative with your work.

I’m also looking forward to integrating Pro Tools and Basehead for SFX spotting, searching, and loading into a project, and with iZotope RX Advanced stand-alone audio editor making it even quicker to solve complex noise issues. EU control, Video Conversion, help with reconforming picture changes… Really the possibilities seem endless!

Peter Oskam

My name is Peter Oskam and I am a sound designer/ technician. I aspire to bring the highest achievable audio quality in all formats into the living room and cinema.

I started my career on tape in mono, then pioneered the new formats in the Netherlands; the first time stereo for cinema, the first 5.1 production for DVD, and the first movie in Dolby Atmos.

I am an audio technician “from the first hour”: during the 80’s I started my career at Meta Sound, worked as the first audio technician in the Netherlands on a digital workstation (Lexion Opus), and finally ended up in Pro Tools. I worked for 15 years at Meta Sound and another 11 years for Liberty Media at Digital Media Centre Amsterdam. My work consisted of recording, editing, mixing e.g. dubbing, TV- and radio commercials, movies, TV-shows and series, promos, and cinema trailers.

Since 2012, I operate from my home-built professional sound studio AmaranthStudio in Bussum, Netherlands.

As you will have probably noticed, I have a passion for the movie and broadcast industry and a curious attitude towards the latest technologies and developments.

After building key macros in QuicKeys or little scripts for easy repetitive tasks in Pro Tools, I came across SoundFlow. After a trial of the previous version, I found SoundFlow could be a big time-saver for my workflow. Now, in the new version, working also on a tablet as a keypad, I can see even more possibilities.

While testing the latest version with an incredible user published set for iZotope RX 7, I was really surprised and excited about the great power and the deep integration within Pro Tools. With this one year free subscription, I can start building my own set of keys and advanced macro scripts. I am looking forward to it. If I end up really enjoying a set that I create, I will definitely share it with the SoundFlow community.
