I’m 43, and I’m a very young sound engineer… I was previously in the electronic component industry, and I went back to school in 2015 to learn audio engineering. It was my teenager dream!

I worked in several small recording studios in France where I learned great things about human relationships, musicians anxiety and how to avoid to scream when your iron soldering strokes your skin…

I now live in Belgium and work mainly on movie sets as a boom operator and location recordist, and in post-production dialog editing, sound design, etc …). I’m starting to work in game audio (Wwise is my new friend) and I’m building my own sound libraries…

And ... I’m happy

I work every day in both sides of the audio process for movies (recording on set and editing), so I can’t (always) blame the boom operator or the sound assistant for the placement of the lavs mics, or the sound recordist for the amount of reverb on the main actor’s voice because we all know that we have to deal with the constraints on set, and audio (at this moment) is not always the priority of the director and production...

I grew up playing folk music and singing in choirs, filming my goofy adventures and building a skill set that could only be used in the creative industry. I originally started my undergraduate as a film major but soon took my interests into post-production audio and music recording arenas.

After graduating from Columbia College Chicago, I became a professional retail associate. Woo! I worked for years picking up gear, learning how to use it and how to help others. In 2009, I ventured off to the land of small business. The company (and my contract work) has grown over the past decade, to the point where I now engineer/produce for Waysound Recording and Stow Away Sound Studio. I also produce video content for Legend Creative Group in Lake Zurich, IL.

I'm incredibly excited to start using the Accentize Speech Restoration Bundle when fixing video interviews recorded in sub-par locations and recordings made by clients wherever they may be at the time of capture along with polishing up vocals and voiceovers as a whole.

Restoration software is a gift from the gods when dealing with background noise, bad room verb or when a vox track cannot be masked in any way. I've just finished recording an audiobook with Stephanie Arnold, author of 37 Seconds: Revealed Heaven's Help - A Mother's Journey, which was partly recorded at Stow Away Sound Studio and partly in the author's home. David Hochgatterer - Winner Of Accentize DeRoom Pro

With a professional background in event engineering, I have collected over 15 years of experience in my job as a lighting and sound engineer for theatre and performing arts. Later I felt the need to act out my own creativity, and after some semesters studying Interactive Media at the Arts University, I´m now a freelance multimedia artist.

My field of activity involves all kinds of audiovisual post-production, but I also design sets and mould with light on and off stage. In my studio, besides creating physical multichannel sound-art installations, I enjoy building customized loudspeakers and people also consult me for acoustical optimization of their listening environments or when they need guidance for the improvement of their analog or digital signal chains.

Especially when recording or filming stage performances, I frequently face the problem of less-than-ideal microphone positions, which often lead to reverberant recordings that lack speech integrity and clarity. Having worked with different de-reverberation plugins over the years, I´m aware that this signal processing technology involves a wide field of know-how. Seeing how Accentize makes use of AI is of huge interest for me as an engineer as well as an artist, and I´m really thrilled to welcome this great piece of technology in my creative playground.
