Arturia have announced Rev LX-24, a plugin version of the famous Lexicon 224. While other recreations of this hardware exist in plugin form there are a couple of features of this plugin which make it stand out.
We particularly like the Advanced View. Part of the appeal of using a plugin version of this iconic reverb is the user interface. The remote of the original, which sat on huge SSLs in the 80s is something you would expect to have a skeuomorphic rendering of in the UI of a plugin version, for the majority of users who have never used the original, it’s not the most intuitive interface so Arturia’s decision to offer an alternative front end in the form of a modern plugin UI is a welcome addition.
If you want to audition the plugin, check out the interactive demo on the Arturia site.
Here’s what Arturia say”
Rev LX-24 is an enhanced virtual replica of a retro ambience box that defined reverb for a generation. Make your mixes bloom with real-feeling space, cave depth atmosphere, and subtly-sparkling texture in seconds with a vintage digital sound that refuses to get old.
The classic cream-colored box with those famously spacious algorithms; reanimated in detail, upgraded, and primed for DAW production.
Endless canyon reflections, crisp ambient clouds, or small room bounciness; the clean, musical, must-have reverb that changed the game.
The missing magic on vocal tracks, the vital spaciousness on drums, the epic long decays on synth melodies - Rev LX-24 works with any sound.
