Creating And Layering SFX With Krotos Weaponiser And Reformer Pro

Krotos Audio produce a range of plug-ins which focus on the performative aspect of creating and layering sound effects. Two of my personal favourites are Weaponiser and Reformer Pro.

Weaponiser is a powerful sound design sampler that lets you design, customise, and perform a huge array of sound effects quickly – all from within one plugin. With a drag and drop, multi-sample interface, it allows sounds to be triggered with MIDI for speed and precision. The sounds in Weaponiser go beyond just weapon sounds, also spanning various other categories, including whooshes, footsteps and trailer sound design, to name a few. Weaponiser includes hundreds of presets and thousands of assets. Four powerful sample engines work together, allowing you to trigger up to 80 audio files in countless variations. There are also three built-in synthesis engines included, making this a great tool for sound design.

Reformer Pro is a tool for performing realistic foley within your DAW. In cases where you might not have access to a foley studio, or where time is limited, Reformer Pro is a great solution which makes performing foley from either a MIDI keyboard or live microphone input possible. Reformer Pro works in real time and includes 4 engines, each of which can have a different sound loaded into it. The balance between the 4 engines can be easily controlled, and automated, from the performance area of the plug-in.

In the video below, I demonstrate some of the included presets in Weaponiser and Reformer Pro and discuss some of the ways in which I like to use these plug-ins from Krotos Audio.
