Eucontrol 2023.11 Released

Avid have released Eucontrol 2023.11. A compatibility and bug fix release which also removes the need for the plist fix which was previously recommended for the Eucon 2023.6 slowdown issue, though if you have used it you can leave it in place as it will be ignored. We have the details.

Eucon 2023.11 is a compatibility and bug fix release for EuControl and S4/S6 Master Module software.

macOS Privacy Settings

On macOS 10.15 (“Catalina”) and later you will be prompted to add applications such as EuControl, MC_Client, and Pro Tools to the Privacy list in System Preferences. If so, follow the on-screen instructions to add them (if you do not, EuControl will not be able to communicate keyboard shortcuts within Soft Keys).

If you experience unexpected behavior with Soft Keys that include keyboard shortcuts after adding EUCON software to the Privacy list, try the following:

  1. Open System Preferences (or System Settings in Ventura) and go to the Security & Privacy.

  2. Go to the Privacy tab, then select Accessibility in the list to the left.

  3. Remove all EUCON software from the Accessibility list to the right.

  4. Add all EUCON software back to the Accessibility Privacy list.

What is Fixed in EUCON 2023.11

Performance Note - Earlier in 2023 several performance-related issues were reported that were able to be corrected by editing a .plist file. Those performance issues are now fixed and included in EUCON 2023.11 and later. (There is no need to add or remove the .plist file; the system will ignore it.)

EuControl Software and Surfaces

  • When adding a new track to Pro Tools, it could take over 10 seconds for the track to appear on a Meters tablet (GWSW-16913)

  • Only 10 Speaker Cuts were available for Atmos tracks; now up to 22 are available (GWSW-16909)

  • When using Apple Logic, Custom Wheel Modes could fail to function (GWSW-16787)

  • Avid Control and Avid Control Desktop

  • Avid Control could fail to show custom Snapshot names (GWSW-16944)

  • It was possible for meters to fail to display after audio files were imported to new tracks (GWSW-16905)

  • It was possible for the display of Pro Tools Markers to be improved...so we did (GWSW-16768)

  • When using Nuendo, it was possible for Pan dots to fail to be displayed (GWSW-15941) Artist Series

  • Artist Control Wheel function button LEDs could stop functioning correctly after switching between applications (GWSW-16789)

Avid S4/S6

  • After auto-banking to an attentioned track, Nudge < or > could assign the wrong tracks to the surface (GWSW-16886)

  • Faders and LEDs could fail to update when turning on Attention Expand Faders (GWSW-16813)

  • It was possible for Display Module meters to fail to sum signals correctly for Folder and multi-channel tracks (GWSW-16902)

  • If a Display Module was set to a Display Layout that did not show function graphs and a function was expanded, the Function graph could fail to update (GWSW-16893)

  • In the Soft Key Editor, it was possible for the Title bar text and background Color to be unchangeable (GWSW-16785)

Known Issues Avid S1

  • S1 Track Color Switches not lit (GWSW-17002) In rare cases the S1 Track Color switches can fail to light. This can happen if you change the REC / Auto Switch setting in EuControl Settings > General after changing the S1 Track Colors scheme, or if you restart EuControl while your DAW is running. If this happens, do any of the following:

  • Make sure the S1 Track Colors scheme is set to what you want, restart EuControl, and then restart your DAW. Or, if you have EuControl set to Auto-Launch, you can either a) log out and back in again or b) restart your workstation.

  • Disable and re-Enable EUCON in Pro Tools.

  • If the S1 Track Color scheme is set to Track Colors or Track Colors and Spill, press the S1 Bank or Nudge switches.
