In this video Julian Rodgers demonstrates how easy it is to set up Pro-L 2 for streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.
What Is FabFilter Pro-L 2?
FabFilter Pro-L 2 is a fully featured true-peak mixing and mastering limiter plug-in. The previous version, FabFilter Pro-L, was voted most popular limiter plug-in out of 15+ third party limiters by the Pro Tools Expert Community.
What Can Pro-L 2 Do?
Pro-L 2 is a fully-featured limiter with all the facilities you’d expect as well as a couple you might not. In Julian’s case, he had completely overlooked the loudness features but other very welcome additions are Unity gain mode which makes auditioning the limited signal against the unprocessed version simple, much like the link control in Avid’s Maxim only this is a class-leading, modern limiter (Sorry Maxim…).
The different limiting algorithms, while not featured in this video and very worth investigating if you are using limiting as an effect and looking to impart some character into the audio. if, as in this example you are looking to just hit the target loudness while changing the sound as little as possible then this is if course a very transparent limiter, particularly if, as in this case, the limiter barely gets touched.
