SSL has announced PlateVerb - the first in a new series of boutique plugins that promise to deliver the sound of classic and contemporary reverbs in a streamlined ‘FX pedal’ style interface. We have the details…
Plate reverb is used widely in music production for adding depth, dimension, and ambience to a range of instruments and vocals. According to the press release, PlateVerb “precisely emulates the distinct sound of classic plate reverb in your DAW, combining two bespoke ‘SSL-crafted’ algorithms for Early Reflections and Late Reflections, capturing the sonic, mechanical, and damping properties of a plate reverb. With reverb decay times ranging from a subtle 100 milliseconds to a colossal 3 seconds, PlateVerb is perfect for a range of production applications, providing depth, dimension, and ambience to a variety of instruments and vocals.
PlateVerb’s array of features also includes diffusion adjustment, decay and room size customisation, damping controls, colour adjustment, ducking with sidechaining, advanced mix control for blending any combination of wet and dry signals, and freeze and kill options for unique and creative reverb tail manipulation.
