Stam Audio has announced their latest replica hardware 1176 model, the Stam Audio SA-76D+, featuring an switchable tube output stage. We have the details.
The SA76D+ is a 1:1 replica of the famous UREI 1176 (Revision D) with an added switchable tube output stage.
This is what Stam Audio say about their latest release.
“With a lot of companies coming out with affordable 1176's compressors clones we decided it was time to step up our game and take it to the next level so we decided to add a second output stage with a 12AY7 tube and a Carnhill transformer to give you two options in one.
With the aid for Sowter input and output transformers, Vishay capacitors and following the original schematic the SA-76D plus sounds virtually identical to and old 1176 giving you same famous character and frequency response as the original at an affordable price. The added tube output stage imparts a unique coloration and harmonic distortion which makes it the most colored 1176 we could have built to date and it's our clients new favorite vocal comp.”
